WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN YEAR 5:
DIVERITY DAY
Year 5 had a great afternoon celebrating Diversity Day by bringing in different world foods to sample, colouring Rangoli patterns and making origami animals.
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY -
Year 5 have been exploring how to make bridges from paper straws and sticky tape. They then tested them for weight bearing across a gap. The best bridge was able to hold 600g.
They then completed their wooden bridges. They used a lot of skills to produce them including: measuring, sawing, cutting and hot gluing to name just a few. The bridges were a lot stronger and robust compared to their bridges made from straws and tape.
SAFER INTERNET DAY -
Year 5 pupils enjoyed a lesson on Internet safety today in which they had to vote on what their favourite online pastime is, have a question and answer "snowball fight" and then how they would react to a series of scenarios.
It transpired that the pupils in year 5 at Redby know a lot about internet safety!
