Redby Academy has an open access and fully inclusive admissions policy and pupils from all backgrounds and abilities are welcome.
Redby Academy will provide 60 places to Reception children joining us in September 2025; reducing to 30 places in September 2026. Redby will adopt the same admission arrangements as those operated by Sunderland City Council.

APPLYING TO REDBY ACADEMY
Redby Academy will provide for 60 places to Reception pupils joining us in September 2025.
For entry into Reception, applications to the Academy need to be made through Sunderland Council’s coordinated admissions scheme.
If your child’s date of birth falls between 1st September 2020 and 31 August 2021, you will need to apply for a primary school for September 2025.
The application period runs from 30 September 2024 until 15 January 2025. If you apply after this date, it will reduce your chance of being offered your preferred school.
National offer day for primary school places is 16 April 2025. If you apply online, you will receive an email confirmation about your child’s school place sooner than if you apply by paper form.

RIGHT TO APPEAL
If you apply for a child’s place at Redby Primary Academy, and the Year Group you require is oversubscribed, there is an appeals process that parents can choose to follow. Further advice can be sought by contacting the City of Sunderland School Admission Team on 0191 5611412.
