WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY
Redby Academy is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all users, regardless of technology or ability. We strive to provide an inclusive and user-friendly experience for everyone visiting our site.
Accessibility Standards
Our website is designed to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, at Level AA. These guidelines ensure that digital content is:
Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presented in ways that all users can perceive.
Operable: Interface and navigation are operable by all users.
Understandable: Information and operation of the interface are understandable.
Robust: Content can be reliably interpreted by a wide range of user agents, including assistive technologies.
Accessibility Features and Tools
To improve accessibility, our website includes:
Alternative Text - Images and other non-text content have descriptive alternative text (alt text) added to them so they can be read by a screen reader. Alt text also helps search engines understand our non-text content better.
Semantic markup: We use a logical page structure using semantic markup to designate headings, lists and other structural elements that enhance readability for users with visual impairments. Titles are descriptive and informative, allowing readers to navigate to appropriate sections.
Descriptive links: All link text are explicit to ensure they make sense when read in isolation.
Contrast: Text and images of text have sufficient colour contrast ratio for users with low vision.
Videos and audio: A text equivalent, such as captions or transcripts are available as an added option for all videos, as they are embedded through YouTube.
Keyboard navigation: Our website can be fully navigated using a keyboard only
Seizure triggers: We do not use blinking or flashing content.
Orientation and ratio: Our website is built using Google Sites, which has an inbuilt ratio option to ensure no use of content or functionality with use on alternative hardware.
Ongoing Improvement
We are dedicated to continuously improving the accessibility of our website. We regularly review and update content and features to address evolving standards and user feedback.
