Year 6 Derwent Hill

And we’re off!!
The children have ‘settled’ into their journey and everyone is in high spirits.
Luckily, we have a little bit of service on the bus so here are a few photographs when we set off from school. We will try our best to upload some of our trip, WiFi depending.
Our first day is over.
We’ve been split into our groups and off out on our first adventure.
Group 1 took to canoeing with Mr Kitching, as did Miss Smith with Group 3. Mrs Fenwick and Group 4 went off to climb Waller Crag on a short hill walk while Group 2 tackled the Big Swing (aka The Death Swing) and low ropes course with Miss Kirby.
Great fun was has by all.
We are lucky to have fabulous chefs here at Derwent Hill, and burgers, chips and salad were demolished all round.
After the children cleared their tables (themselves!!) we headed out for an evening activity, back to the ropes course and the Night Line.

Our first (and only) full day is over, and what a day it's been! Busy, exciting and truly amazing.
Today we've either been on the 'Death Swing', Canoeing or Gorge Walking, followed by some orienteering in the grounds this evening after our tea.

And that's a wrap! What a fabulous time everyone has had! We have been very well looked after, and well and truly worn out. We are on route home with 49 children who have conquered fears, achieved things they didn't know they could and made memories to last a life time!
Our last day of adventures took us all to amazing views! Group 1 hiked up Waller Crag with a beautiful view of Derwent Water.
Group 2 walked up Binsey where we could see Skidaw hidden in low clouds, and the only actual lake in the Lake District, Bassenthwaite Lake.
Group 3 went to Bowder Stone where they could see across the Borrowdale Valley and even had a chance to boulder. Finally, group 4 saw their views from the top of the Death Swing. They were all very brave and couldn’t wait to tell everyone about their experience.
